Thankfully I didn’t have to pay for this game. I picked it up for free by pre-ordering Fable II, you will find it on Xbox Live Arcade. Being free is the only thing that makes this game worth playing. It takes the appearance of some casino games and they are called Wizard’s Tower (something like that), Keystone, and Spinnerbox.
Spinnerbox is a knockoff of your everyday slot machine. Different spinnerbox games have different bonuses and payouts. To say the least, it is moderately interesting.
Keystone is an evil mix between craps and roulette. The numbers are 3-18 that arch over the board and there are odds at different points of the table. Place bets on any number of spots such as odds or evens, red or black, pairs, trips, runs or set numbers. Three dice are used in determining the numbers (3 being the least you can roll and 18 being the most). It is somewhat more entertaining than the Spinnerbox.
The Wizard’s Tower is, in my opinion, better than the other 2. There are 10 cards of each numbers 1-9 and 4 knights. You start off by placing a wager, than you receive three cards…one face down and two up in a pyramid fashion. The object is to get 15 or better in the sum of the cards shown (15 is breaking even and you may or may not collect after each row is dealt). You take risks by having more cards dealt to your pyramid. If the face up card matches the other face up card underneath it, you lose unless you have a knight (which saves your cards) in the same row or your face down card gets replaced with the matching face up card (if it is the same number you still lose). Each row gains an additional card (start with 2 next row is 3 then 4 etc.), therefore, increasing your odds at gaining more points but also increasing your odds at matching cards. If you make it to 8 rows of cards without matching at all you gain the number of all rows added together (Jackpot). I hope that wasn’t too difficult to understand.
Although, the Wizard’s Tower may be somewhat interesting, it still isn’t worth 10 dollars. I would have been severely pissed off if I paid for this game. The only reasoning for this game is to make money for your character in Fable II…which isn’t even out yet. Sure they have tournaments where you can win items for your hero/antihero but if you’re not a Fable lover than stay away. If you are, pre order the game so you can get into the free Fable II Pub Game promotion.
