McCain was more aggressive and on the offensive, which is good, but he needed to be since he's behind. But he seemed condescending, rude, and old...as always. He need to try to not make weird faces for reactions.
Obama didn't argue much. He defended himself, but he stayed cool, calm, and collected. That's something that McCain doesn't have the ability to do. He's an old guy set in his ways.
Obama wins because he spoke more about American issues and not about attack ads.

Also, this is pretty good to see how you'd be taxed under Obama.

Actually, Joe the plumber FTL! After all this attention, the media latched onto this poor SOB like vultures. Camping in his front yard, asking personal questions, and digging up dirt on him like he was the one that was running for president. One news organization found out that he owed a whole bunch in back taxes. Now Joe the plumber is gonna be Joe the unemployed.

SNL won since their ratings went up for a little bit. Overall, I'd say we all lost since the debates didn't advance beyond the typical talking points.

No matter how you slice it, Palin is the big winner because people know who she is, an older male audience thinks she's smoking hot, and she'll have a full time career being a fund raiser for various Republican causes over the next twenty years.
I mean, seriously, if she even had a speaking engagement fee before this, it was probably barely enough to cover costs. Now she'll get a cool million everytime she stands in front of a podium.
She'll get her residual check from being on SNL and other shows too. Probably buy herself another sea-plane for her sprawling Alaskan homestead. While McCain is being Senator, and the Obama gang is trying to figure out how to unfuck Medicare. Palin is gonna be wiping her ass with $100 bills and contemplating being in the next issue of Playboy for Seniors.

When will people learn you can't trust politicians? People keep telling me they like Obama because they can trust him. Has history not taught us that you should never fully trust those in charge?

What a surprise! A big media story mocking the major message of both presidential canidates to change the direction of our Country. They are in the pocket of THE MAN, of course they don't want someone elected by the people to use the power they were elected to have.
Have you really ever been disapointed that much by your local or federal representatives Kevin?

Hahah, gotta love John Stossel. He pisses off both sides by bringing common sense to this crazy election cycle.

Have I been disapointed by my Government? Yes... 9/11 was a huge disapointment and failure of our Government to do the one thing that is most important. Protect it's people. They failed. Both parties. Biggest failure in history.
Want something closer to home and recent? The bridge leading to downtown is about to fall fucking over. They have it closed down to one or two lanes while they figure out what to do. So the city of Cleveland takes 1 million dollars out of the small business loan fund, and gives it to the Rock and Roll hall of fame so the next induction ceremony can be held in Cleveland.
Failure? Dude... This area is all about Government failure.
I dunno where you live, but it must be a beacon of happiness if you can believe that Government has done a good job protecting you and keeping you safe.
But unlike you dude, I actually volunteer. I actually do help people and fill in where Government can't. I don't just sit on a forum and spout off and then go eat pizza and watch TV and blame the world about what should be done. I get off my ass and do shit about it.
American's idea of freedom is the freedom to be comfortable. True freedom is a lot harder to earn. But I guess you'll never know, since you want the Government to do things for you that you can't or won't do yourself.
You keep believing the promises. And looking forward to when everything is fair and even steven. I'll keep being a realist and preparing for the future.
Ultimately, I'd like Obama to solve all man's ills. But I'm certain he will not. So rather than wait around with expectations, I work and plan for my own well being rather than wait for someone else to provide it to me.

For the most part the country has been entirely successful at using democracy to put people in power who wont sap the public coffers and actually maintain the basic functions of government.
I think you are focusing on the negative a little bit
I mean you may be right about where I live being a beacon of happiness or something
There are at least 20 bridges in NYC and I can't think of a time when any of them were have problems.
We've been blatantly lied to by our government for many many years, I think we'll be surprised with what will come out of a little honesty.

Honestly MicFri, do you think the National Debt is generated because politicians haven't soaked us for every dollar we have? They take your Social Security money that they are supposed to save for you, and they spend it. There's nothing in there for you. They are hoping younger people will pay into it so you can get your money, because your money has been spent. That's a fact.
Medicare will be bankrupt in the next twenty years. Nothing is gonna stop that from happening because politicians won't talk about it. It'd be career suicide. But they have no fixes for it, and it's trillions of dollars in the whole. When you and I retire, Medicare will be a shadow of what we should expect to get for what we're paying into it. They ruined it.
Just look at the last budget. First the Democrats...
Representative Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) for $211,509 in olive fruit fly research in Paris, France.
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) for $3 million for The First Tee in the defense appropriations bill.
John Murtha (D-Pa.) for $23 million for the National Drug Intelligence Center.
Robert Byrd (D-W.VA) for $386 million in pork.
Representative Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) for $1,950,000 for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service.
Montana Senators Max Baucaus (D) and Jon Tester (D) for $148,950 for the Montana Sheep Institute.
Representative Ann Esshoo (D-Calif.) for $1.6 million for the Allen Telescope Array.
Senator Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) for $344,540 for the city of Chicago
GreenStreets Tree Planting Program.
Senator Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) for $173.2 million in defense pork.
Rep. Thomas Allen (D-Maine) for $188,000 for the Lobster Institute.
Senate
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) for $196,000 for the renovation and
transformation of the historic downtown Post Office in Las Vegas.
The pork in this one bill totals $23 billion. That’s a new record.
Pork-barrel spending has doubled in the last five years.
Republicans:
This
year’s gift items include $50 million for a 4-and-a-half acre indoor
rain forest in Coralville, Iowa, courtesy of Republican Senator Charles
Grassley, of Iowa.
Then there’s $1 million for the Anchorage Museum,

Representative Jim
Gibbins, Republican of Nevada, gets a quarter of a million dollars to
repair a swimming pool in his hometown of Sparks, Nevada.
$200,000 to the University of Hawaii to produce a
documentary on Kalahari Bushmen,
$220,000 to the University of Maine to
renovate a blueberry research center.
Half a million
dollars to the University of Akron for a program called "Exercises in
Hard Choices," examining how Congress makes budget decisions.
