Obama wants to cut taxes for the middle class and raise taxes on the rich. That won't work. Raising taxes on the rich only hurts the middle class. The rich will just cut jobs and wadges if they get squeezed.

Also, Obama's favorite word is bipartisanship. If we have that why have a two party system.

I don't really buy that higher taxes are going to effect the middle class - there's no more "entrepreneurial spirit" left in the world, so it doesn't really need protection.  As long as a community can support a strip mall with a Wall Mart and a Gamestop, unless dowtown is a tourist-trap, it's a ghost town. Who does need protection are the sick and the poor - if you REALLY get sick in this country your more or less finished, while every other developed nation in the world has a safety net for the sick.   Don't give me some bullshit counter-argument either - I've lived in countries with Socialized medicine AND been on welfare in this country, so I've checked out our public health system.

And what's McCain's solution anyways?  Bailouts?  Where does that money come from?  The GOP is about smaller government, yet McCain begs the nation to use tax money to fund the private sector.  You call it what you want, that's Socialism - so I'm voting for the guy who doesn't wheez and limp around like some LOtR villain.

So yeah, give the government more money, they'll probably blow it.  ON THE OTHER HAND, we know for sure that banks, oil companies and insurance companies are getting away with OUR MONEY and exploiting us - time for the government to shut down those little pop-stands and take over.  At least Obama creates a pre-text for that happening.

He's not going to piss off the elite.  The worldwide shift in wealth from those who control resources and energy to those who control media and information is complete.  Hence, Bill Gates and Oprah are more powerful than, say, Ross Perot.

What Obama will do is lease functions of the government to the private sector, while controlling funding, enforcing standards, and protecting the public.  He's actually protecting the wealthy by giving them a crutch or buying up their shit (notice that Obama has like ten times more funding than McCain).  It's already started with charter school, mercenary armies, and private prisons - all three of these things are currently run like crap and can only get better with more tax funding and tighter government control.  The next move is the government taking control of banks, insurance, and energy - notice Mccain is all for "encouraging" drilling and "helping out" banks in trouble - the private sector has fucked things up so bad that if the goverment doesn't clean up the mess,  we could have total infastructure break-down; the death of America.  Joe the Plumber would be pretty fucked then.  In Europe and China the government CONTROLS the economy through ownership of practically everything - had Gore been president like voters wanted, we'd already be doing it.  Yes, I know this sucks - Obama will essentially be a dictator, but we get the goverment we deserve.

Edit:  I picked up this attitude living across the street from a Rio slum for a year (like the one in "Incredible Hulk").  All this shit is old-hat in Brazil, which has been kicking-ass financially since Lula the Socialist stepped in. (I checked, the Real is at fifty cents today - THAT is a leadership).

I'm defeated when I can't trust putting a nickle into the stock market, I'll be homeless if I get to sick, and I can't afford to get to work when gas becomes $5 a gallon.  Your already getting fucked in the ass by Wall Street, the insurance companies, and Exon-Mobile.  The President of the United States takes an oath to protect the public trust - I just don't see McCain effectively controlling the private sector, which has become criminally out of control.  McCain projects less athourity than Obama, and I feel Obama has a stronger destiny.

BTW, while the middle class in China booms, our standard of living improves because of cheap Chinees labor.  They make our iPods, PS3s, cell phones, etc which we gobble up for cheap.  What America has that China doesn't is integrity, law, and Christ.  There are dozens of free countries in the world where citizens have surrendered control of the economy to the government to protect their own health and fredom - this is a train that is already moving and I don't see either canidate not getting on board.  That's why McCain and Bush bailing out banks is such a hoot - it's the OPPOSITE of small government and less taxes.  I just see it going much smoother with Obama, with less people drowning in hurricanes and blowing their heads off with shotguns when their houses are foreclosed.

You want to give to much control to the government. When that happens you go down a patch that quite frankly I don't want to go down.

You can't socialize the United States like other countries when you have the whole riders thing on bills.  This is where dudes like KD don't get it.  You can't compare us to Canada or Sweden and say, "Well they do it, we can do it to"  No we can't.  They aren't in debt like we are, and they don't have a system where people pass trillion dollar budget bills to give salmon egg farmers millions in your tax dollars.

  The stock market will correct itself.  It's not the wealthy business owner that fucked up here.  It's the banks that fucked up.  The Democrats could have put in regulation on Bucket Shops but they didn't.  You know who released legislation on them?  Clinton.  Fact.

  It's like you forget history.  As though Obama's plan is better than Carter's plan, when they are virtually the same.  And Carter's government was a total disaster. 

  McCain understood that you need to stop the spending before you can offer up the programs people need.  Obama hasn't figured that out yet, and may never. 

  By the way.  If you have no insurance and get really sick, they have Medicaid for you in this country.  I know, my Dad was really sick and was on Medicaid.  And it covers everything.  The thing about Medicaid is that you can't have a giant house and two cars and expect free medical care.  But if you're living below the poverty line.  Medicaid is there, it's free, and covers it all.

  The unfortunate thing about most people who think big Government is the answer don't understand how big our government already is and how mismanaged it is.  You don't get into the kind of trillion dollar debt we have by not providing programs to people.  40% of the U.S. workforce is employed or directly paid by the Government. 

  The Government spent all the social security money and Medicare money.  There isn't any there for you.  So lets give them more money to build a new medical insurance to enhance the ones they've already bankrupt.

  You ever driven on a toll road vs a public road?  Try it in winter sometime.  I can tell you which has been plowed and well maintained and which hasn't.

  Government operated social projects almost always fail.  There is no accountability, and no oversight.  The U.S. Government gets a gigantic amount of money through massive taxation.  And it's not going to provide free medical care like Canada.  It's going to take a percentage of your pay to give you mandatory insurance. 

  Making kids work 100 hours of community service for their $4000 tax break on tuition sounds like a good idea.  Until we start hearing about the shoddy volunteer organizations that the Government will start paying to put these kids to work.  Think about it, you could go register your own non-profit, and when his plan starts you can get a bunch of students to sell gold for you in WoW.  And you can collect the money from that, and the money from the Government to work the employees.  And just give yourself a nice fat salary and spend the rest on mediocre community projects.  Tada...  Instant richness for you without labor!

  I can't wait to see the madness these programs will create.  But likely they'll be shadows of their intentions, and result in little actually changing.

  Wait until they start that Windfall profit tax stuff and the oil companies relocate to Dubai and take all their jobs with them.  Woo hoo!!!  That's gonna be shocking!  Maybe we should have the Government take over the wells and nationalize it all?  Oh wait, most of them are offshore and not in the United States anyway.  Whoops.

  Seriously, you may not believe that prices are gonna go up, and your utility bill is gonna go up, and that people will lose their jobs, but I'll be here to remind you.

  You know, my coworker mentioned to me that once the Obama medical plan hits, he has no more reason to work at our company.  Why?  Because he can get health insurance himself from home and work from home.  There's no more benefit to having a job in the tech sector.  The one benefit you needed was health care.  Pretty-soon, not any more.
