I got invited to Home yesterday. It was a 77mb download, but I see that it is only for your personal space. When you go to other places, you have to download those areas first. After you download it, you can go to them freely.
So far, its ok. I see a lot of advertising opportunity for Sony. Home is an easy way to make a lot of friends, also. From the little time I spent on it, I do see a lot of potential.

I would rather see them put out some actual fucking games than focus on trivial shit like this.
Where are my fucking RPGs Sony?

I downloaded the BETA and it sucks. I go into the arcade and can't play an arcade machine because it's in use. Are you kidding me? If I want to wait in line at an arcade I'll go down the shore. I have to stand there and wait or the guy who's standing there to walk away. Don't they realize waiting around is no fun and it's not necessary in a virtual world? You also have to download each part of the town before you walk into it...lame. Home is a stupid waste of time.

It would be better if you downloaded everything initially instead of the first time you go to the place. Home is going to be an advertisers heaven, though.

I would like Home if it was an anarchy and you could do and say what ever you want but I don't think that's the case. I think I remembered some article saying it would be controlled and censored.

You can say whatever you want, but you can also get reported or have a complaint filed against you, or simply ignored.

Spent about 2 hours on it tonight. Its pretty bare right now, there's not much to do, there's some general clunkyness to the interface and getting around, and some frustrations with loading times just like others here have mentioned.
There are some things that I was impressed with though. The social aspect is definitely working so far, despite the lack of "stuff to do". There were lots of people having random conversations everywhere, its pretty neat when you are just walking past and you overhear people talking and then as you walk past their conversation fades into the background.
I was having some fun roleplaying a bit. I created a fat ass character with a mullet, no shoes and a greasy mustache and I walked around asking people if they would be able to spare me some money/food. I got some pretty interesting reactions....
I also noticed that about 95% of people on there were dudes and the 5% who had female avatars usually had a swarm of 10 guys around dancing and trying to get a conversation going. I'm sure some of the female avatars were probably other guys in drag amusing themselves.
I am guilty of sort of harassing this one girl who was busy trying to play pool. There was a guy who was playing the Rick Astley "Rick Roll" song over his mic and I managed to get him over to the girl, stir up a crowd and convince about 15 guys to start dancing around her. It was completely hilarious! She called me a pig and told me to screw off, then left shortly after.
Later, Another girl ran up to me and instantly added me to her friends list then a few minutes later invited me to her "apartment". Soon there were about 15 people there, even a few females and someone started playing some music and everyone danced. Yipee. I left, it was boring.
I did have a couple interesting moments though. I noticed one guy had a user name CrazyLeafsFan so I sparked up a hockey conversation with him since my Sens are playing them tomorrow night. We chatted hockey for about 5 minutes. It was cool, we added each other as friends and might try to play some NHL 08 sometime.
Anyhow, for a Beta, I'd say home has some good things going for it, but it still has a long way to go. The interface needs alot of work and overall, things could be a bit quicker to do what you wanna do. But it certainly has some potential. I wound up adding about 5 people to my friends list after being on there for a couple hours.

I'd like to be invited, but haven't been offered a invite code from sony. I would like to see what it is like first hand. From what i've seen from people playing it, it would look like it would be a perfect place to meet friends or gather some people to play on a team before a online game, and formulate a plan to beat something as a team and whatnot. Like formulating a plan over a game of chess, checkers, pool, or arcade machine, or just at your virtual house. But idk, as ive never played logged on it, and it could be boreing like everyone says...

well, after checking my email and deleting a shit load of spam I had in my inbox (including spam from sony =P) I realized that sony had emailed me a invite. I quickly entered that shit and downloaded home. after playing wandering around on it for a hour, I got bored of it. I do stand by my opinion of it being a good meeting ground to meet with friends and talk before joining a game, or a place to play pool/bowling/chess with a friend, and talk about stuff.
Soooo, who wants to start the VGN/Medispective club house on home?

Big win in the shootout last night vs. Toronto!
Yeah its been a shaky start, but it was also a shaky start 2 years ago when they went to the cup finals.
I'm not expecting that to happen again, but I think the team is a lot better than its record is showing right now.

You guys should talk sports on ClevelandSportsRadio.net, it'd help those forums out.
As for Home. I have it. It's boring as shit. My Internet is screaming fast, so the downloads don't matter. It's pointless though. I don't think these people know what they are even trying to do. It's insane.

Sounds like not much has changed since I started the beta last year.
Bowling is fun, and pissing people off by leaving a chess game only half way through is fun, but that's about it.
