Anyone liking Guitar Hero's New Direction?

Before Guitar Hero World Tour, I liked the fact that there were 2 different version of rock instrument goodness. Guitar Hero was more focused on the guitar experience while Rock Band was more focused on being a band. Now that Guitar Hero has entered the Rock Band arena ... I am not too impressed with the experience and the music selection. And if they continue this trend, we who enjoyed Guitar Hero games, will no longer enjoy songs like Cliffs of Dover, Low Rider, or Pride and Joy because they arent "karoke" style songs. Instead we get a song by interpol, beat it, and .... hispanic rock?
What say you guys?

I'm coming around a little bit with GH:WT. Here are just a few nit-picky points I have on this new Activision title...
1. I got pretty annoyed at the start, because I was excited about the detailed character creator (away from the pretty basic Rock Band customizaion), and it took me all to long to create a character that looks NOTHING like me. It seemed that each attribute made VERY minimal changes on the likeness.
2. I'm not a fan of being forced to play more than one song at a time, at ALL times, to advance in the career. To start, I had to play 2 songs + an Encore to unlock the next setlist. But, to get those songs in the newly unlocked setlist, I have to play them all at once... (plus the Encore). At least in other games, in each area, there are spots with single songs you can play to advance. (Just being really nit picky I guess)
3. LOVE the drums on this one! Being a drummer, it was a bit rough getting used to the drums in Rock Band. Now having a drum kit that has a more "physicality" to symbols (whether they act as a High Hat, Crash or Ride Symbol) it just adds to the experience of playing drums. The bass petal seems a bit more sturdy as well. (this is in comparison to the Rock Band 1 drum kit, not the newly re-inforced Rock Band 2 drum kit)
4. I agree with dantex777 in the fact that all the songs on this title are now selected around a band theme, when before, just having a guitar, could have a wider range in tunes and it didn't matter if the lyrics were great, has a good bass line, or decent drums fills.
All in all, the game is entertaining enough for me to keep truckin' through it at this time. I don't think I'm going to get quite the amount of gameplay out of this title as I still do with Rock Band 1 and 2 and the previous Guitar Hero titles.
I do have to say this, though...
Harmonix... Bring on the Beatles!!!
Activision... Bring on Metallica!!!

For me I like playing new songs
and I'm still playing through Rock Band 2 which never seems to run out of songs due to dlc.
I believe I will eventually get World Tour but how will it work with the Rock Band drums?

I never really played Rock Band or Guitar Hero, but...
From the looks of things, Guitar Hero will lose its exclusive uniqueness it holds (It being focused only on the Guitar aspect, wile Rock Band covers the whole band).
But then again I never played them, so I can't accurately comment...
