Looks like I'll be buying just Fable 2 next week. It's okay now I'll be able to beat it before LBP comes out.

Delayed because of a *FUCKING SONG*.

Fuck Muslims telling me what I can and can't do and fuck Sony and Media Molecule for bowing to a vocal bunch of fanatics.

Going to EB to cancel my pre-order right now.

The letter:

To: Sony Computer Entertainment & Media Molecule

While playing your latest game, "LittleBigPlanet" in the first level of the third world in the game (titled "Swinging Safari"), I have noticed something strange in the lyrics of the music track of the level. When I listened carefully, I was surprised to hear some very familiar Arabic words from the Quran. You can listen to part of the track here:

http://mt14.quickshareit.com/share/preview/soundclip22503c0.wav

The words are:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

I asked many of my friends online and offline and they heard the exact same thing that I heard easily when I played that part of the track. Certain Arabic hardcore gaming forums are already discussing this, so we decided to take action by emailing you before this spreads to mainstream attention.

We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online update, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it.

We would also like to mention that this isn't the first time something like this happened in videogames. Nintendo's 1998 hit "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" contained a musical track with islamic phrases, but it was removed in later shipments of the game after Nintendo was contacted by Muslim organizations. Last year, Capcom's "Zack & Wiki" and Activision's "Call of Duty 4" also contained objectionable material offensive to Muslims that was spotted before the release of the final games, and both companies thankfully removed the content.

We hope you act immediately to avoid any confusion and unnecessary controversy, and we thank you for making such an amazing game.

Regards,
NSider

Pre-order canceled. Mulling over picking up a 360 cause at this point, the only thing I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year is a PS2 game.

I don't have a pre-order to cancel thankfully. I seriously don't get why Muslims are so offended by this. Well, that's not entirely true. There seems to be an attitude of being easily offended when it comes to this stuff. Would I be offended if the song contained phrases from the bible? Of course not. I'd be happy the word is getting out. I don't see the logic in this and I'm disappointed that Sony caved in.

Still, I'm gettin the game.

So you're converting to Islam then? You pretty much are if you're going to let yourself be told when you can play a game and what music you can listen to.

We are all converting is Islam if we get LBP. Plus you will be forced to convert anyway once Obama is elected on Nov. 4. Remember he's an Arab Islamic terrorist who swore to the Koran when he attacked us on 9/11 according to the crazy McCain rally lady. I keed I keed.

I wish Weird Al would make a song about Muslims. Maybe some islamo-fascist would fly a plane into his face.

Religous zelots and the PC Police have ruined pop culture in the 2000's. Im black, you know how many black jokes and racist comments I have heard in my life? Way to fucking many, but I refuse to live my life being offended every 4 minutes. So what if a fucking video game makes reference to the Qu'ran. What is the context? What was the musician saying? Was the overall message one of peace?

It's background music in a videogame........get over it people.

Apparently it was some grammy award winning song that they chose to use in the game. These were the "offending" lyrics:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').
