Thanks Kevin, got mine in the post today. Not sure about the enclosed sweet (Lemons Iced Cream). I'm not going to eat it. Probably one of those joke sweets that turns your mouth blue or is full of extra hot chilli powder.

Should help ease the passage of the cold dark winter nights here in England.

Been listening for the last six or so months, found your show by total accident and now can't get enough. Keep it up.

Just got my discs in the mail today, thanks again for the hard work Kevin. I'll sell this thing on ebay in 10 years when you make it big, and get out of Cleaveland.

Got my set today. I'm pretty sure Brian's Day Out could be considered the first VGN Radio show.

First one on film maybe.  That was back about 14 years ago.  I was living in a small apartment next to a graveyard.  Brian was driving a switcher and got off at night so rather than go home, he'd come over my place and hang out.

Most nights, Don Anderson would come over around 11pm.   We'd typically leave and go to Walgreens because there was a girl there (Who I mention in the video) that would give us free everything.  We'd walk up to the register and she'd put the stuff in a bag and let us walk out.   Turns out she liked Don because she used to watch his band play at a nearby bar.

Don had just returned from living in Oklahoma.  Some guy told Don and this other Kevin that they could sell Movie Phone (But called something else) to movie theaters in the area.  They went to training and all this crap, and then that didn't work (Because there was already this thing called Movie Phone) so they started trying to sell credit card machines, but that failed too.  So after nearly starving to death (I think Don lost like 50 lbs in six months) they drove back to Cleveland.

So yea, Brian didn't like to go home to his now ex-wife.  So it was Brian's day out.  It was pretty cool when he drove the switcher since we could hang out.  Didn't last though.  There wasn't enough money in it for him, so he started driving again.

I only lived there a year, then I moved in with this guy Dan on a farm.  And that dude is fucking nuts.  But that's another story.

Well big rig trucks pull trailers.  They drop the trailer off at a loading dock.  They then go grab a new trailer and head back out on the road.

The switcher is the guy in the yard who moves the trailers around.  It's basically a truck that you quickly back into a trailer, pick it up, and move it to another loading dock or drop it in the yard awaiting pick-up.

Switching is kinda crazy because you are spending your whole day backing up trailers, which is about as fun as driving your car backwards.

Brian is actually a really good truck driver.  He won the trucker's rodeo about a year or two ago.  I guess they setup trucks and put cones down or something and have drivers maneuver through them without knocking them over, etc.

But I think the way the pay system is setup for truck drivers, you get paid to drive miles on the road, where as switching is an hourly rate.  You make more money driving, especially if you have more seniority.  And I think he's been doing this for almost twenty years now.

Larry and I always try to ask him trucking questions but he thinks we're mocking him so he never answers.  It's actually fairly interesting stuff when you think about how that business works.  Of course, getting pinched by the law because you didn't pay your ticket isn't really good either.  Haha...

Well actually I think the press release might be from the company that amde the chair, but its being released in america and the sega of america president made some comments about it already

Kevin J Baird At:10:35 PM

We do, but I didn't see this press release. It might be from the Japanese office, and we only get the American releases here.

NutMan At:9:39 PM

I meant to type "Do you get press releases from sega"

NutMan At:9:39 PM

did you get press releases from sega kevin? they sent out one just now that would be perfect for medispective to talk about. it mentions how now kids can sit on sonic(via a sonic game chair) for a "full body sensory experience"

Kevin J Baird At:7:43 PM

Yea, well the Gunds who own San Jose are Cleveland legends. We use to call the Quicken Loans Arena the Gund arena. They did make it impossible to ever get an NHL team here though.

Yes San Jose
