A young man has been stabbed on a Greyhound bus traveling across Canada in the second brutal bus attack in two months — an eerie reminder of the August assault when a passenger was beheaded.

The attack occured on Sunday afternoon aboard the bus about 5km south of White River, Ontario, sending a 20-year-old to hospital for "non-life-threatening injuries."

Police picked up the 28-year-old suspect after he disembarked the bus on the side of a remote highway immediately following the attack.

A motive for the assault was unclear because the two did not appear to know each other, police said.

The case is a horrific reminder of a knife attack last month aboard another Greyhound bus in which a man stabbed, gutted and beheaded a fellow passenger.

Vince Weiguang Li, 40, of Edmonton faces a second-degree murder charge in the case.

Both buses were en route to Winnipeg.

Yeah this really is bizarre.

I've heard on the news here in Canada that the guy who did the stabbing was actually in police custody up until he got on the bus and the cops physically escorted him onto the bus, and saw him off. How the fuck didn't they know he had a knife? Why were they releasing him?

I need more info...

See, if you guys had relaxed gun laws.  Folks would just get shot and killed and wouldn't have to go through the whole painful stabbing situation.

By the way, did they figure out if that first guy was insane or what?  Any further news on why the hell he went banana cakes and sawed that guy's head off?

Gotta disagree with the whole gun thing Kev. Sure, if carrying handguns was legal in Canada, the decapitation stabbing wouldn't have been able to persist. (Assuming at least one dude on the bus was carrying a gun that is - what percentage of Americans actually carry their weapons with them on busses though??)

The thing is, its much better to have one stabbing happen every once in a while than hundreds of shootings every day. Even in Toronto, a city of over 4 million people and the 5th biggest city in North America, there have only been 27 shooting deaths so far this year. Compare that to Chicago, a city of similar size to Toronto and the figures pale in comparison. In fact, there were 36 reported shootings in Chicago in just one weekend in April this year.

The fact of the matter is, the easier it is for the populace to kill one another, the more deaths will probably occur and its simple to see that more guns within the populace will lead to more shootings, more murders, more death, more taxes required to police gangs, drugs, robberies etc.

It was terrible for that guy to have been decapitated and mutilated and that no one could do anything to stop it, but honestly, that is probably the worst murder I can remember ever hearing about in Canada. Certainly not even on th same level as something like say, Virginia Tech or Columbine. In fact, much like Virginia Tech, the guy who committed the Greyhound murder was severely deranged and mentally ill. Imagine what could have happened if he had a gun instead of just a knife... the whole bus could've been killed.

Our gun laws here seem to work just fine. And my family is a hunting family by the way. My dad owns a 30-6 and a 12 gauge that are locked up. I don't think there's anyone here who would support handguns being legal, since there's no real use for them beyond law enforcement.

@kev
i honestly haven't heard much about it and i can't find anything new without doing more indepth searching. the judge ordered him to get a psych exam before the court would proceed. i'm not even totally sure if he has a lawyer yet still. he probably does have some very serious mental illness that interferes with all of his senses and judgement based on what people who witnessed it said.

@dan4real:
guns truthfully don't make things easier. there was a CIA training manual for "freedom fighters" written a while back. it suggested explosives and knives in place of guns because according to the CIA "the lethality of firearms is greatly overstated". look at britain now, youtube has banned knife videos for UK visitors because of a sharp increase in knife crime. politicians there are calling for stricter knife laws and harsher punishments for knife crimes. we're told that knives are very difficult to use in murder and that banning guns would see a decline in murder but as long as people want to kill each other there is nothing you can ban that will change it one bit.

we don't produce coca here in canada right? we banned cocaine too right? yet i can buy it on any school campus. theres a war against drugs too. it funds terrorism, violent gangs and hurts people physically. yet we can still get it - because there is demand for it.

i honestly think some people in this country should be allowed to carry guns and fewer cops should be carrying them. i wouldn't mind if bus drivers could carry, women, small business owners, truckers, delivery men, etc. these people are targets for violent crime a lot, police can't protect them. police are like antivirus, they only play catchup after the act has occurred.

Only by one point - and Ottawa has more losses. They're doing worse than the Maple Leafs! That's shameful!

Ottawa is doing better than Colorado though, so don't feel too bad.
