the SegaCD/MegaCD added scaleing and rotation as well as other abilities to the genesis. IMO: FMV games was a total waist of these new features. None of the (coughbootlegedcough) games in my collection are FMV. Robo aleste, sonic CD, soul star, batman returns, night striker (only released in japan), and final fight CD take advantage of what it can do, oh and Snatcher has great cinematics (not FMV)
im so dedicated to my sega CD and genesis that i bought a mega cart V1.X for it. it allows for me to play any region segaCD/megaCD game on my segaCD (and is cheaper then a frequency mod, and multiple bios install) and has the ability to flash roms to it. why might you ask that i would buy such a thing when i could do that on a emulator? well i prefer the silky smooth (and acurate) performace of the orginal hardware, to the sometimes choppy and sometime inacurate performace of emulators. of course i wouldnt buy such a thing if i didnt still play my sega CD regulary, last time i played it was when i was taking a break from MGS4 yesterday.
