Hoyle Casino Games is exactly as it sounds. It has everything from card games, to slots, to horse racing. When you start the game, you will be asked to create a profile. This profile tracks the stats for each individual game you play and lets you know how much money you have won or lost. You can also unlock achievements. Each achievement is worth a certain amount of points. When you acquire enough points, you can use them to buy in game toys (such as a mini Statue of Liberty or a small glass cat), or game faces to make your avatar more customizable. You can then display these items in game to show off how cool you are.

Once you have created a profile you will be given $5,000 to start. From there you can choose from a list of casino games. The Slots are as you would expect, each slot machine has a different amount you can bet and has different maximum pay outs.

The tables range from different types of poker, to craps, roulette and more. Once you are seated at one of the tables, you will be sitting next to random computer players. They all have different personalities and make different comments. If they are winning they may comment, “I’m feeling good” or “This will pay for my honeymoon.” But if they are losing, they will make comments such as, “Where did all my money go” or ” Don’t tell my husband.” It’s amusing at first, but after about two minutes you will want to go into the settings and turn it off.

This brings me to the worst portion of the games, the horse racing. Before each race you can place your bet. Once you have placed your bet the game cuts to the race; however, doing this is pointless, as the camera angles are so bad you don’t know what’s going on. You then have to sit for approximately two minutes for the race to end and then wait for an on screen pop up to announce the winner. It’s so tedious and boring it makes me wonder if this portion of the game was just thrown in as an afterthought.

You can also play online to see how well you fair against real people. You have online tournaments, leader boards and online chat. While this is nice to have, you can go to any number of free websites and play most of these games.

Overall I would say this game is a mixed bag. With so many games, I’m sure there is something here for everyone. I’ve found that while nothing can replace actually going to a casino, this could be used as a way to learn the rules to games you have never actually played, such as Keno. I’ve never played Keno before, but now I at least have an understanding of the rules. This game does a good job representing its real life casino game counter part without the worry of going broke, and it’s only 19.99. They have also added an official rulebook in the box, which is nice.
