The Witcher coming to consoles.
CD Projekt RED has announced that The Witcher will be heading to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in fall 2009. The former PC exclusive was a hit among RPG fans and is sure to fare just as well on consoles.
Atari will be publishing the game in most of the world while CD Projekt will be publishing it in Eastern Europe with a Russian publishing deal to be announced later.
CD Projekt has also confirmed that the story will remain the same as the PC version while the controls will be revamped and optimized for a gamepad.
“Console gamers don’t want to be treated like kids; they’re ready for deep
story-driven games, and we think we’re delivering one of the deepest console
RPGs ever with The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf,” said
Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt RED. “The only thing we’re taking directly
from The Witcher is the story; everything else is being created from scratch or
significantly reworked to get us to our end goal of delivering the ultimate
console RPG.”
Not only will the story remain the same, but CD Projekt will do everything they can to make sure the experience isn't "dumbed down" for consoles. The co-founder of CD Projekt says that players, regardless of platform, want to be treated with respect.
“We’re not about to dumb down our games for anyone. We want to give players the
best games, regardless of platform,” added Michal Kicinski, co-founder of
CD Projekt. “It’s important to us that each game plays to the platform’s
strengths while treating our players with respect. That was our development
philosophy with The Witcher and it’s our philosophy on all three of the games in
development at CD Projekt RED, including Rise of the White
Wolf.
They also reassured PC gamers that they would not be "abandoning" the
PC as a platform for future titles just because they're also putting
their games on consoles.
Anyone concerned that we’re going to somehow offer a shallow RPG
or abandon the PC platform simply because we’re working on consoles can stop
worrying.”

Yeah. When I learned a few months ago this was a million seller I knew Atari would do everything in there power to get this done.
They need money pretty badly.
