Install base of consoles in the US, in graph form.

The graph above shows the install base of the Wii, PS3, and 360 in the US. As you can see, Wii sales are still rocketing past the 360 despite the price cut Microsoft gave to all three models in September. Last month the Wii sold 800,000 units while the 360 only managed to sell 371,000 units, which isn't bad by any means but its nothing compared to what the Wii did. The arcade model 360 is $50 less than a Wii.

The PS3 is in far worse condition than the 360 though. Sony only managed to move 190,000 PS3s in the US last month, and they have no plans for a price cut this year which would probably solve most of their problems.

US install base for each console

Wii: 13.4 million
360: 11.6 million(despite Microsoft launching a year earlier)
PS3: 5.4 million


The below graph shows that despite the larger install base, the Wii still can't sell as much software as the 360.
