Golden Tee

Supposedly this is based on the popular game in bars across America, but in reality it's a crap golf game with the Golden-Tee name.  It's known to be pretty awful overall, and I've never played it.

Re: Golden Tee

LOL, looks like something you'd find in the "gift" section of Younkers or JC Penny's around the holidays.  Crappy, overpriced gifts.

At least they tried to recreate the trackball control.

Re: Golden Tee

i really don't know why its such a popular game.  when we go to some local bar and golden tee is there, we play it.  i guess its something to do after sitting at the bar for awhile.

I love blackjack. But I'm not addicted to gambling. I'm addicted to sitting in a semi-circle.

Re: Golden Tee

You could also ask, "Why is pool popular in bars? "

The reason, in both cases, is that both games are slow.  At a bar you're probably drunk so any reflex game is a waste of time.  They also tend to be loud and obnoxious.  Golden Tee is pleasant and you don't even need volume to play it.  If your drunk buddy is hitting on a chick, you have a few moments to grab him so he can take his turn.  He won't get crushed by a mushroom falling on his head or anything.  Plus, it's a generic game that most people can figure out.  You simply roll the trackball towards the hole.  Any sort of knowledge or skill about the game can come later.  It's a big time waster, and it's social.  So a game like Solitaire wouldn't float because it's not social.

Simple, casual, social.  = Big success in bars across America.

Re: Golden Tee

It would be fun to watch someone that played Golden Tee in  a bar all the time, buy the home version and plug it in to their tv...only to realise the game is pretty lame when you take away the bar.  :(
